Week 39 and still here!
Wednesday, January 7, 2009
Weeeeee... Its week 39 and I'm still here, totally could not sleep well last night cause baby Caleb was twisting and turning inside mummy every hr the entire night! RESULT- Mummy kept going to the toilet and daddy could not sleep well too as mummy kept twisting and turning in the bed!
And now our dear Caleb is soundly asleep in my tummy while mummy is wide awake in the morning waiting to go to the gynae for our weekly check. I guess here's a preview to what its gonna be like when he is out... Gosh, I'm so gonna take a long long afternoon nap later!
So anyway here are the latest updates, went to see the new Gynae Dr Jema today, who has recently joined the clinic and she gave me some choices on how to bring the labor on earlier since I am already in my 39 weeks... She suggested to stripped my membrane while she is checking for the dilation, apparently it will help to bring on the onset of labor earlier and that if it works I should go into labor between now and Friday and if it still doesn't work I could try drinking Castrol oil (swear by many midwives) available for purchase over the pharmacy in the laxatives section and that should help too AND if Caleb is still very stubborn, I will be scheduled for induction on Monday. I agreed with her suggestions and youch the stripping of the membrane part was VERY uncomfortable lor... She said that it is definitely less painful then labor itself... hyak hyak hyak. Apparently my cervix is pretty high up (or i think she has pretty short fingers...oops) so it was really bad for me! I think I heard her say that I'm still closed or I was 2 to 3 cm dilated (see I am hallucinating already)!!!
I had some difficulty walking after which and felt a little light headed, thank god my sis is with me... hehe... and I keep telling her that I don't wanna go through labor already!!! Haha... Traumatized victim-ME!
So anywayz I guess by hook or by crook, we will be able to see Caleb here on his webpage by next week! Pray with me for an easy labor peeps... Shall update soon!
Anyway since I have nothing much to update, here's some suggestions of some natural inducers from this magazine that I always get free through post. "American Baby", Jan 2009 edition. For those mummies just like me who are running into their 39 weeks! Have fun reading!
Here are some of the popular methods. Are they effective? Decide for yourself!
1) Walking- may help bring the baby into position, with the help of gravity and the swaying motion of your hips
2) Nipple Stimulation- triggers oxytocin, which might start contractions
3) Fresh Pineapple- contains bromelain, which help soften the connective tissues of the cervix
4) Having SEX- may work because semen contain cervix-softening prostaglandins
5) Eating spicy foods-is purported to get your inards rumbling, kick starting your uterus. But you may just end up with bad gas!

About My Name Pronounced as: "K-lerb, Loo-kas"
Caleb- A faithful dog/companion, is also bold. In the Bible Caleb and Joshua were the only 2 spies that had the bold faith to believe that God will give them the land filled with giants. With the odds stacked against them, Joshua and Caleb remained faithful to God's word. I pray our Caleb owns up to the meaning of his name, that he is faithful to God and bold in living his life for God.
Though many might have think that, "huh meaning of a dog???" but when you reverse spell the word "dog" what does it turn out to be?- "God" And you know how much our family loves dogs so when we chance upon the meaning we were like, OMG that's so meant to be. The qualities, loyal companion, big hearted... It's definitely a name great for a little boy and for a man to be! Though Jason and I do not attend church regularly, it's definitely gonna be a good name if he decides to become religious.
Lucas- Light or bearer of the light. Lucas is definitely going to bring light into our lives...
Here's a list of things that Daddy and Mummy are preparing for my arrival and some of them were passed down by their friends & relatives. Others, were gifts! Thank you very much all aunties and uncles, Jies Jies and Kors Kors!
